Radio Station Update
Sunday, January 5, 2020 5:14 PM
First, some positive news to report for a change. I have purchased a new automation software program that is superior to the program I've owned and tried to use for a decade. The new program is more logical to use and will play files at the right time compared to the other software which seemingly has a mind of its own. While adequate for DJ usage and possibly some non commercial and hobby radio station applications, it lacked important features needed by professional commercial and non commercial radio stations. The new software also allows more control over specific times for events to fire which will allow a better listening experience. Testing will continue for a few more days before the station gets back on the air.
The weather forecast for the next few days is good. I hope to get the Hamilton Rangemaster transmitter installed by Christmas and with luck, perhaps the range of the station will improve over the previous two to three block radius from the other transmitter. Sadly, as mentioned more than once on this site, the current location is fraught with nearly a dozen environmental obstacles and technical issues resulting from those problems making it near impossible to get a usable signal out for the mile to two mile radius that otherwise could be achieved here. And moving within this area is no longer an option due to rising property prices and brisk sales.
A trip to Pennsylvania to view some properties in locations that should offer less trouble for low power AM signals is likely in January, weather permitting. With luck, I hope to have another property purchased by Spring either in Pennsylvania or one of the other states that are on the short list for relocation. Relocation out of the current Cincinnati area is planned for the first half of 2021 with the launch of the radio station to happen soon after. Updates on this site will continue until that day arrives.
